CSK, with just eight points from 12 matches, has failed to make it to the play-offs for the first time in its history. However, it tasted an easy eight-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Dubai on Sunday. With the help of a disciplined bowling effort, Super Kings restricted Royal Challengers to 145 for six.
Eyeing a fourth win this season, CSK got past the line with eight balls to spare, thanks to a half-century from opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (65 not out). The youngster smashed four fours and three maximums during his 51-ball match-winning knock.
In the evening fixture, Rajasthan kept its play-offs hopes alive, courtesy a stunning century from Ben Stokes (107 not out). Stokes, who hit 14 fours and three sixes, shared an unbroken 152-run stand with Sanju Samson (54 not out) as RR chased a huge target of 196.
