Nepal's star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who will play in the Big Bash League (BBL) for Hobart Hurricanes, has revealed that he has tested positive for  Covid-19, less than two weeks before the start of the T20 tournament in Australia.

"Hi everyone, greetings to all. It is my sincere duty to tell you all that I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I had some body aches since Wednesday. But my health is improving a little bit now. If all goes well, I will return to the field again. Keep me in your prayers," said Lamichhane on Twitter.

The leg-spinner was also a member of the Delhi Capitals side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but did not get to play a single match.

Lamichhane, who will miss the first four matches of the BBL, is scheduled to arrive in Australia in the middle of December and will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine before he is available for Hobart's game against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on December 27.

The Nepalese leggie had played for Melbourne Stars in the previous two seasons but shifted to the Hobart franchise this season.

His positive test comes after Nepal vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee had tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
