Liverpool, Manchester City notch up wins on comeback

Premier League title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City secured victories on their comeback from the international break.

While Liverpool defeated Watford 2-0 at Anfield, City emerged victorious by the same scoreline at Burnley. Portuguese forward Diogo Jota (22’) opened the scoring for Liverpool, with Fabinho (89’) converting a penalty a minute from normal time.

In the Burnley-City clash, Kevin De Bruyne (5’) and Ilkay Gundogan (25’) got on the scoresheet in the first half.

Having played 30 matches each, table-topper City and second-placed Liverpool have 73 and 72 points respectively. Meanwhile, Chelsea suffered a shock 1-4 defeat to Brentford at home.
