SUNCHEON: India’s challenge at the Korea Open Super 500 ended on Saturday as PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth went down in straight games in their respective semi-final matches here. The third-seeded Sindhu suffered her fourth successive defeat to the 20-year-old An Seyoung (Korea), losing 14-21, 17-21 in a women’s singles last-four contest. Sindhu, placed seventh in the rankings, did everything in her power but could not get past World No.4 An, who gave an ample display of her athleticism and precision during the 48-minute encounter. In the men’s singles semi-finals, fifth seed Srikanth came up short against Jonatan Christie from Indonesia as he went down 19-21, 16-21 in 50 minutes. The Indonesian showed better control in the rallies to outwit the Indian with ease.
