Himmat Singh helps Alwarpet take first innings lead

CHENNAI: Centurion Himmat Singh (112 off 181 balls, 13 fours, 1 six) and S Rithik Easwaran (81 batting off 108 balls, 11 fours, 2 sixes) added 108 runs for the eighth-wicket alliance as Alwarpet CC secured the first innings lead against MRC ‘A’ on the second day of the TNCA First Division match at the SSN College Ground here on Monday.

At the Guru Nanak College Ground, Akshay V Srinivasan (115 off 107 balls, 14 fours, 4 sixes) smashed an aggressive hundred for Globe Trotters SC, which declared its first innings after piling 552 for seven against Vijay CC. Meanwhile, opening batter B Sachin remained unbeaten on 114 (253 balls, 11 fours, 2 sixes) and guided UFCC (T Nagar) to 223 for four in response to Sea Hawks CC’s first innings total of 291.

Grand Slam CC left-arm spinner M Siddharth (5/98) bagged a five-wicket haul, but Swaraj CC put a good first innings score of 444 on the board. On the first day of the Madras CC-Nelson SC contest, the host’s opener Tanmay Agarwal (116 off 188 balls, 11 fours) struck a century.
