Sachin Rathi picks up seven wickets; Atheeq hits ton

CHENNAI: Left-arm spinner Sachin Rathi (7/47) bagged a seven-wicket haul as Jolly Rovers CC bundled Swaraj CC out for a paltry 163 on the opening day of the TNCA First Division 2022-23 sixth round match at the IIT-M Chemplast Ground here on Saturday.

Later in the day, in-form opening batter B Sai Sudharsan (118 batting off 164 balls, 13 fours) and B Aparajith (93 batting off 116 balls, 9 fours) accumulated 210 runs for the unbroken second wicket to help Jolly Rovers take a comfortable first innings lead.

At the Wahe Guru ‘A’ Ground, MA Atheeq ur Rahman (135 off 189 balls, 18 fours, 3 sixes) slammed a century for Alwarpet CC, which stood at 369 for six against Nelson SC at stumps.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Dharmendra Jadeja (6/76) earned his third fifer in as many matches as UFCC (T Nagar) bowled Grand Slam CC out for 196.

Elsewhere, left-arm slow bowlers S Ajith Ram (5/57) and Bhargav Bhatt (5/67) scalped five wickets each for Globe Trotters SC and Vijay CC respectively.
