It is said, the high intensity explosion could emit temperatures between 150 degree celsius and 180 degee celsius that can turn the human bodies into ash and a few body parts were seen scattered around the premises and at around one km away. “Forensic officials from Tiruchy GH areworking on identifying the bodies after collecting the parts. They would be sent for DNA test when there is doubt,” said Joint Director (Health) Soundarajan. Since there was no prompt response from the officials to the relatives of the deceased, they collected the sand from the factory premises to perform the last rites. “We could not find the body of J Lawrence, who was killed in the explosion but as per the family custom, we should organise a funeral for the departed and so we had no other go but to take the mud from the spot and we will bury it with due respect,” said Isaiah of Kengavalli in Salem. Similarly, around 10 more persons collected soil from the spot to perform the last rites.
