Her fame will remain forever: Karunanidhi
M Karunanidhi, DMK patriarch and arch political rival of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, said she had passed away amid expectations of her returning home after receiving medical care from renowned specialists.

“There might be many differences of opinion between DMK and AIADMK. But there can be no doubt that she bravely worked for the welfare of her party and her party men,” he said in his condolence message. “Although she died at a young age (68), there is no doubt that her fame will remain forever,” he said.
DMK treasurer MK Stalin, who paid homage to Jayalalithaa at Rajajai Hall here, termed her as an "iconic and courageous leader.”
"Deeply saddened by the demise of our CM Selvi Jayalalithaa. My deepest condolences to the party cadres and well-wishers in this hour of grief," Stalin tweeted.
Her death was an irreparable loss to the people of the State, Stalin said.
TNCC president Su Thirunavukkarasar, who knew Jayalalithaa well right from his days in AIADMK, said Jayalalithaa enjoyed the love and affection of the women folk.
DMDK founder Vijayakant, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss, BJP State leader Tamizhisai Soundararajan, VCK leader Thol Tirumavalavan, TMC leader G K Vasan, leaders of CPI and CPI(M), senior congress leader P Chidmabaram, former BJP MP from Uttarakhand Tarun Vijay, Prince of Arcot Nawab Abdul Mohammad Ali, Tamizhaga Vaazvurimai Katchi founder T Velmurugan, leaders of various Muslim organisation, former TNCC Chief EVKS Elangovan also condoled the death of Jayalalithaa.
