CBI team inspects DSP Vishnupriya’s quarters

A 10-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajah Balaji, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravi, visited the quarters in which Tiruchengode DSP R Vishnupriya (27) was found dead hanging last year. They were at Tiruchengode as part of the seven-day inquiry over the issue.

On Friday, the team inquired Namakkal SP S Maheswaran. On Saturday the team comprising four forensic experts from Hyderabad went to the quarters where the young woman officer was  found hanging on September 18, 2015. 

The door of the quarters (that remained locked for months) was opened in the presence of the DSP’s father M Ravi. It was on his petition the Madras High Court transferred the case from the Crime Branch CID (CBCID) to the CBI in July this year. Prior to the CB-CID the  case was first handled by the local police. 

During inquiry on Saturday, the CBI team quizzed Parvathai, the DSP’s maid, who first saw the police officer dead. The team conduced  inquiries from 10 am to 2 pm in the quarters. 

Over the next five days the team would be inquiring the police officers who were handling the case and the late DSP’s superiors.
