Thambidurai bats for Sasikala as AIADMK general secretary

‘With folded hands, the entire party cadre and I, plead with honourable Chinnamma to wholeheartedly accept our request to take the reins of the AIADMK party and to lead the party from the front, for the sake of the 1.5 crore partymen and to protect Tamil Nadu,’ said Dr Thambidurai in a release that heaped praises on Sasikala, a close aide of late CM Jayalalithaa. He pointed out that the people of TN had identified Puratchi Thalaivar MGR as their leader who in turn had identified Puratchi Thalaivi Amma to lead the famed party after him. 

‘At this juncture when Honourable Amma is not amongst us, respected Chinnamma is the only person who is capable, who has the acumen and experience to lead the AIADMK party,” the parliamentarian said. Dismissing the pending cases against Sasikala as false charges foisted due to political vendata, Thambidurai sand that Chinnamma went to jail and underwent many struggles. She had also given valuable suggestions to Amma regarding party administration and even in governance, he stated in the release. ‘Whenever persons like me went to Amma to get directions, respected Chinnamma had shown me the right path to follow and had given me innumerable advices and suggestions,’ he said. 

Over the past few days, several senior leaders including Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had made similar requests to the Chinnamma. With one senior AIADMK leader after another pledging their unconditional support to Chinnamma’s leadership, the succession issue in AIADMK seems to be resolved for now.
