MDMK men burn Stalin’s effigy in Kovilpatti
MDMK cadres resorted to protest in different parts of the southern districts after their party leader Vaiko was allegedly humiliated when he had gone to visit DMK chief M Karunanidhi at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.

Though senior DMK leaders including its Treasurer MK Stalin and former Minister Durai Murugan sought an apology on behalf of DMK cadres for not allowing Vaiko inside the hospital MDMK cadres did not take the issue in lightly. MDMK cadre at Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts, where Vaiko’s native village is present, resorted to protest immediately. At Kovilpatti, cadres burnt the effigy of Stalin and raised slogans against him. They also beat the photo of Stalin with their slippers and staged a road roko. Following it police took around 50 cadres under custody for staging protests without obtaining permission.
On Sunday, MDMK cadres staged protest against DMK in front of Tirunelveli Junction. During the protest they raised slogans against DMK and Stalin and claimed that DMK cadres do not know to show respect. They claimed that Vaiko had gone to see Karunanidhi, who is ailing, on humanitarian grounds but DMK cadres behaved in a disrespectful manner and it is highly condemnable. DMK and its cadres must openly seek an apology to Vaiko demanded MDMK cadres.
