Nagarajan alias MGR Nagarajan, AIADMK 57th ward secretary, had built the temple at a cost of Rs 2 lakh. To begin with he had placed portraits of both the leaders. He had ordered the statues for both of them, which is expected to arrive soon. Nagarajan told DTNext that he was an ardent follower of MGR and a devotee of Jayalalithaa.

For the past 20 years he had held the post of ward secretary and had developed the party in his area.  He recollected his seven meetings with Jayalalithaa and the prizes presented by her to him. Once he had arranged 108 molaparis and had taken the women to Thoothukudi meeting to make the meeting a grand success.

On seeing the molap ri procession, Jayalalithaa had gifted him a wrist watch which he treats as a priceless possession. Similarly, impressed by the massive arrangements he had made for a party meeting in the Temple City Jayalalithaa had gifted him a seven sovereign chain.

MGR Nagarajan says that as Jayalalithaa still lives in the minds of people he decided to construct a temple for her along with MGR. Each statue will be three feet tall and will weigh 50 kg. MGR in the movie ‘Thani Piravi’ had adorned the role of Lord Murugan and Jayalalithaa as Valli. Hence he decided to make the statues in the same fashion and would inaugurate them on their respective birthdays, on Jan 17 and Feb 24.
