According to Police, Babu (35), a paddy trader, lived with his wife Kavitha (28) and two daughters Keerthana (five) and Krithika (three) at Kamala Nagar area in the district. On Monday night, Kavitha visited her mother and returned home. On Tuesday morning, neighbours grew suspicious as the couple and the girls failed to come out even by 8 am. They knocked the door.
As there was no response the informed the police. Police broke open the doors and found all four of the family dead. Since Babu was found hanging, and the other three were found dead on the floor with frost coming out from their mouth, police suspect that Babu would have administered poison to his wife and daughters, before committing suicide by hanging himself. The bodies were sent to government hospital for post mortem.
During searches, police recovered the phone of Babu. The mobile phone had an audio message recorded on WhatsApp just before his death. In the audio message, he said ‘’I worked as a paddy trader under one Varadarajan. A man named Perumal joined the firm as a partner.’’
‘’After the death of Varadarajan, Perumal forged my signature and took Rs 60,000 in my name,” he said.
‘’Perumal also prepared fake documents and bond papers to claim that I owed him Rs 15 lakh. He threatened me. Now I owe a debt of Rs 18 lakh, which is why I am ending my life along with my family,” Babu said and blamed Perumal for driving him to take the extreme step.
