Hospital targeted, doctor attacked by irate mob
Agitated relatives and friends of a youth went on a rampage attacking the doctor and damaging his hospital on the Gandhipuram 100 ft road, as the 19-year-old who was taken there for treatment died. While they claim it to be death due to medical negligence, the hospital authorities claimed that it was no fault of theirs.

The youth G Pradeep Kumar (20) of Siddhapudur in Gandhipuram was profusely vomiting in the early hours of Wednesday and was brought to Ellen Hospital. His relatives claimed that he was brought there around 5.30 am and that he died around 7.30 am. However, they added that the hospital claimed that he was under treatment even after he died.
The protestors said he collapsed after a nurse administered an injection. They also told reporters that they have video recordings of the happenings inside the ICU, to substantiate their claim that he was treated even after his death. They damaged windowpanes inside the hospital and assaulted the doctor.
Hospital authorities dismissed the claim and added that the youth was vomiting and that the particles accidentally entered the windpipe, worsening his condition. Managing Director of the hospital V. Ramachandran claimed that the Pradeep was shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital but he died on the way.
