Expand crop insurance to end suicides: BJP
BJP Tamil Nadu unit President Tamilisai Soundarrajan led a delegation of party functionaries to meet Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at the Secretariat and discussed whith him about the suicides of farmers in the state.

Tamilisai Soundarrajan also requested him to expand the crop insurance scheme in the wake of alleged suicides by farmers in Tamil Nadu. “I met him and discussed about the suicides of farmers in Tamil Nadu. It has become a continuous episode in the state due to lack of rainfall”, she told reporters after meeting the Chief Minister.
During the interaction Soundarrajan said she had requested Panneerselvam to take adequate measures in order to protect the livelihood of the farming community. Stating that the BJP Tamil Nadu unit would soon come out with a report on the issue regarding farmers suicide, she said that she urged Panneerselvam to expand the crop insurance scheme for the benefit of the farmers. Yesterday, DMK Working President called on Panneerselvam at the Secretariat and discussed a host of issues including farmers suicide.
