When farmers Theivamurthy and Arivalagan went to their field to carry out irrigation work on Friday, they were shocked to find the crocodile staring at them. The farm is located at Brahmanan Pettai near Vinnamangalam in Thirukattupalli. They wasted no time in alerting the fire and rescue personnel who along with forest officials reached the spot and rescued the reptile. The forest department personnel said that the crocodile was from Vennaru in Kallanai. It may be noted that a few months back a 65-year-old man was attacked by crocodile in Kumbakonam. Similarly, around 10 months back, a 10-foot female crocodile was rescued at Mayiladuthurai.
