Sources said that the helicopter was returning to Karnataka after dropping Sri Sri Ravishankar at Neyveli. The spiritual leader had left by the helicopter from his ashram situated at Kanakapura in Karnataka to attend a function at Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. While the helicopter was returning from Neyveli to Karnataka, the weather was inclement and the crew could not manage to continue their flight. As there was a thick fog and heavy rain, the crew had no other option but to make an emergency landing in a forest adjacent to Mugalur close to Kelamangalam near Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

Safe landing in forest

Retired air force official R P Dolly and engineer Vinay Kabir managed to land the copter safely near the forest. As there was no sign of weather returning to normalcy in Hosur, the helicopter was parked at the same spot for one more than a day that is on Thursday. Later, fuel was brought from Bengaluru to fly the copter back. Once conditions improved, the chopper lifted off and left for Karnataka. After news about the chopper in the forest spread like wildfire in the region, there was a steady stream of visitors from nearby villages to see the aircraft.
