Sasikala ‘misguided,’ claims ex-Kovai Mayor Rajkumar

Extending his support to Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, former Coimbatore Mayor P Rajkumar said that he has nothing against the party’s new General Secretary V K Sasikala. “She is misguided by the same group of ‘corrupt, bandicoots’ Ministers who were misguiding Jayalalithaa,” he said.

Rajkumar told reporters in Coimbatore that he preferred Panneerselvam to Sasikala as the former rose from a humble beginning in the party and won the confidence of Jayalalithaa. “Out of the 100 wards in the city the party’s secretaries in 79 wards support Panneerselvam. A few are out of town,” he added. According to him many sitting MLAs want Panneerselvam as Chief Minister.

“Some of them were in touch with me over phone even before things turned ugly. They said he is an easily accessible Chief Minister and wanted him to continue in that capacity. Now the MLAs have been ‘abducted’,” he said. Calling the act of taking them to undisclosed places, grabbing their mobile phones and turning them off an undemocratic act, he made an appeal to the government to release them and to help the MLAs function independently.
