How OPS managed to execute his mission ‘Marina outburst’ has been the million-dollar question till date. Sources said that Panneerselvam already knew his security in-charge’s proximity with the rival group. The said officer was reportedly present at the venue when Sasikala was elected the Leader of Legislative party. Recently, when the Chief Minister wanted this officer to be shifted out, he reportedly gave him a piece of his mind. OPS also learnt that this officer helped to transport the MLAs to a resort on ECR and also provided them with a mobile jammer, which was exclusively given to the CM’s security team. At present the officer has gone on leave after being targeted by the Chief Minister, sources added.
In this backdrop, highly placed sources described the knack adopted by OPS to deceive the police official in-charge of his security on February 7. Here is how it is
Masterstroke
- OPS prepared a plan to counter Sasikala’s elevation as CM.
- He was aware that his security in-charge was close to the group in Poes Garden residence.
- The CM informed the police officer that he wanted to visit Poes Garden and ordered him to get the vehicles ready.
- The convoy started motoring from Greenways Road residence of the Chief Minister.
- The security officer was under the impression that the Chief Minister was heading to Poes Garden for a routine meeting with Sasikala.
- Just before turning towards Poes Garden on Radhakrishnan Salai, the CM suddenly instructed the officer to proceed to the DGP office.
- Panneerselvam said that he wanted to visit the DGP office first before going to the Poes Garden.
- The unscheduled visit confused the security personnel.
- When the convoy neared the DGP office, the CM made another unexpected change in his plan and said he wanted to visit Jayalalithaa’s memorial.
- For a second time, the security in-charge was left guessing as to what Panneerselvam was up to.
- The CM sat in dhyana at the memorial for over 30 minutes.
- On completion of it, as planned earlier he opened up to the media and it was a tsunami-like attack on Sasikala and family members.
“As anticipated by the Chief Minister, the police officer was at Poes Garden even before Panneerselvam reached his official home after the sensational press meet. The officer had reportedly gone there to convince Sasikala as to how the Chief Minister kept his plans confidential,” sources added.
