Governor, BJP under fire in DMK meet
In a meeting held with senior party functionaries on Monday, DMK working president MK Stalin clarified that while the DMK, as a responsible opposition party in the Assembly, would provide issue-based support to the ruling AIADMK, there was no question of any such favour being extended outside the House.

When a few functionaries expressed the opinion that they could have been a little more critical of the Governor’s handling of the constitutional crisis in the state, Stalin had reminded them that they could only reiterate on the Constitutional head of the state following the Constitution and not openly suggest that he should invite Sasikala or someone else. However, Stalin’s opinion was reflected a little stronger in the party resolution in which it levelled a veiled political attack on the Governor and wondered if the Governor was ‘trapped’ in the ruling BJP’s “power play” politics to delay the formation of government in the state.
As party Rajya Sabha MP TKS Elangovan raked up the alleged nexus between BJP and OPS, Stalin reminded him that bonhomie between AIADMK and saffron party, even the nomination of a person from a community to the Rajya Sabha and who has defected to caretaker chief minister’s camp now, was not new. Saffron party would attack the DMK only through AIADMK, irrespective of who heads the party, and hence it was necessary to only see AIADMK as their arch rival, he added.
A former minister who drew his attention to reports on possibility of Sasikala attempting to muster support of Congress MLAs, got a piece of his mind when an agitated Stalin told, “Congress MLAs are not in Koovathur. Why don’t you call and ask them? Let us not bother about this or that party. Let us stand together.”
