The high-level meeting, headed by working president MK Stalin at the party headquarters was attended by all 89 MLAs. Party sources said that the party legislators had unanimously decided to oppose Palanisamy’s government in the floor test. Further, all the DMK MLAs have been instructed to stay in Chennai and come to Assembly on time. It was also said that since DMK has around 40 new faces, they were taught as to how they should participate during confidence motion.

Congress remains undecided

The Congress legislature party with nine MLAs met at the Sathyamurthy Bhavan on Friday evening, to decide on the no confidence motion but, until reports last came in, remains undecided on whether to support Palanisamy government or not. After the meeting, Su Thirunavukkarasar, TNCC President said, “We will convey our decision to the party’s high command immediately and all the MLAs would obey to the party’s decision.” Sources said that while the state Congress leadership was in favour of supporting the EPS government, the party high command was in favour of standing together with the DMK considering the fluid political situation in the state.

Don’t smile at me: Stalin tells CM

DMK Working President MK Stalin advise the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy not to smile at him in the State Assembly.

“Talking to reporters here, Stalin said, “Palanisamy should not smile at me in the State Assembly.” Stalin’s advise assumes significance as it comes in the backdrop of AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala remarks that Palaniswami’s predecessor O Panneerselvam had smiled at him during the debate a Assembly session, and cited it as one of the reasons for his sacking. Sasikala had said that when DMK member Duraimurugan showered praise on OPS, he did not oppose it and it showed that he was conniving with DMK.
