Youth hailing from different backgrounds, who gathered for a discussion in the city, announced the name of their party and unveiled the flag. The flag has a logo displaying a youth breaking slave chain in the background of Tricolour.
At present, Ebenezer, Sathya Praveena, Suganya, Karthy, Suthanthira Devi, Prakash and Prasad have been named conveners.
Speaking to reporters, one of the organisers, Ebenezer said, “We don’t have a Prime Minister or Chief Minister aspirant among us. We are here for just doing selfless service for the betterment of our country. During the jallikattu protests, we brought a lot of issues associated with the traditional sport to the public domain.”
“Everyone exhort upon the youth to enter politics, so we started our endeavor based on people’s president Abdul Kalam’s faith in youth power. We gathered on the Marian and lifted the three-year impasse over jallikattu. We will work on a lot of critical issues that have not been resolved in the last 50 years,” they added. “We have decided not to field criminals or have office-bearers on the basis of caste or community,” said one of the conveners.
The team wants to test their power in the electoral battle by contesting in the ensuing RK Nagar by-election and local body polls.
