Senior AIADMK MPs and government officials also accompanied Palanisamy who is on his maiden visit to Delhi after assuming the office of Chief Minister, sources said.

During his meeting with Modi, Palanisamy is likely to take up various issues, including exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) and seeking funds to address damage caused by cyclone Vardah, among others.

Palanisamy had a brief interaction with Modi at Coimbatore on February 24 when he had arrived in the city to inaugurate the bust of Adiyogi.

On Saturday, he wrote his maiden to letter the Prime Minister after assuming office in which he objected to Karnataka government’s plan of going ahead with its proposal on building a dam across river Cauvery at Mekedatu. He said that Karnataka has ignored the concerns of the riparian states on the issue, thus violating the norms.
