T Saravanan, a painter from Thirumangalam, vaccinated his child Sharan for Measles-Rubella at the Ponnamangalam Primary Health Centre on February 22. The child developed fever after getting the shot and he was admitted to the Thirumangalam GH. Early on Friday, his situation worsened he was rushed to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital where he was declared brought dead. His family protested, demanding action against the doctors. However, Deputy Director (Health) Arjun Kumar said “all the students who were administered the vaccine from the same vial as Sharan are safe.” The child must have already suffered from fever and cold while being vaccinated, he reasoned.
