Eminent entrepreneurs from various sectors will share their expertise and experiences in the event to motive the young audience.
“When we talk about startups, most of us think of IT start-ups. But there are lots of opportunities in agriculture, food processing, manufacturing and service sectors. The conclave aims to throw light on such unexplored opportunities and to guide enthusiasts,” ICCIC president Vanitha Mohan said.
Promoting Coimbatore over the general perception of Bengaluru and Chennai in India and Silicon Valley in the USA as ideal places for start-ups, Vanitha Mohan said “Coimbatore is an entrepreneurship hub. There are lot of resources in terms of institutions and expertise,” she said and added that successful entrepreneurs here are willing to share their success mantra and tips with start-ups.
The organisers had initially planned to accommodate 600 participants. “But the registrations got fully booked 10 days in advance. This shows the interest youth has in becoming an entrepreneur. Two third of the participants are students. The rest are first generation entrepreneurs. We are working on increasing the number of seats to accommodate maximum participants,” says G Karthikeyan, president of TiE Coimbatore.
Pandiarajan to inaugurate
Former minister and sitting MLA and eminent leader among the O Panneerselvam faction Ma Foi Pandiarajan will inaugurate this day-long event and will also be delivering the key note address. When asked, the organisers claimed that there is no political colour to this event and he has not been invited as a politician.
“He is one among the first and best start-up entrepreneurs. He took this bold step to become an entrepreneur when many were hesitant to foray into this sector. From a humble start in a village he established a leading HR organisation and sold the service sector organisation for Rs 1,200 crore,” ICCIC president Vanitha Mohan added.
