In an apparent reference to expelled party leader and former chief minister O Panneerselvam, he said Stalin had joined hands with a “traitor” to “topple” AIADMK government but it could not fructify due to a “silent revolution” by the ruling party. “One OPS was thrown away and one EPS was ushered in through a silent revolution and a political change brought in,” he said.

“That is why this Working President (Stalin) is frustrated and to conceal his inabilities, he is criticising the AIADMK government,” Dinakaran said in a statement. Dinakaran, nephew of VK Sasikala, who is serving a jail term in an disproportionate assets case, took exception to Stalin’s reported remarks that the AIADMK government was being run by convicts, in an apparent reference to the party general secretary, and said, “Not all those convicted are culprits. The world knows not all those convicted are culprits and that all those who escaped (the law) are innocent,” he said.

Hitting back at Stalin, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Dinakaran referred to criticism against DMK on various matters, including the 2G spectrum allocation case and the Cauvery dispute. Sasikala is serving her jail term in Bengaluru central prison after being convicted in the Rs 66.6 crore disproportionate assets case.
