Speaking to DTNext, PV Subramani, president of CGTA, said, “The CGTA has long been appealing to the state government to allot land to develop a Transport Nagar. The facility would have tracks, parking space, stimulators, skeleton vehicles, visual media classes and specialised training to drive heavy vehicles. It would require eight to 10 acres of land. However, we have not received any communication in this regard.” Stating that the association was facing several challenges, the CGTA members said it had affected the truck owners and movement of vehicles.
Vasu, Executive Member of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), said, “We have discussed the major issues such as toll tax collection, improper highway facilities like parking vehicles and harassment from police officials. We sent a representation to the government in this regard and now the government should pay attention to these issues.
Earlier, the CGTA had a group discussion on the impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on truckers, logistics managers, vehicle technology, changes to the industry and transportation in general.
SK Mittal, president of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) participated and the AIMTC is expected to announce their stand on the motor strike soon.
