Gold burgled from house of veterinarian
Robbers burgled the house of a retired veterinary doctor in Kovilpatti and made away with 25 sovereigns of gold jewels, cash and other household articles on Friday.

The owner of the house Ramayya, a retired veterinary doctor, had gone to a funeral at RS Mangalam near Ramanathapuram when the incident happened. When he returned on Friday morning, he was shocked to see the front door of his house open. He rushed in to check on the bureau and other belongings.
He found the bureau broken and the gold jewels kept in it were missing. When he came out of the house, he was shocked to see his motorbike also missing. He immediately informed the Kovilpatti West Police and they carried out an investigation. A case was booked. Forensic experts were called in and they lifted fingerprints from the spot.
Police said that apart from 25 sovereigns of gold, Rs 55,000 in cash, a TV and bike were looted from the house.
