Engineer campaigns from Kalam memorial

A software engineer contesting in the RK Nagar by-poll started campaigning at the memorial of former President APJ Abdul Kalam at Peikarumbu near Rameswaram, on Wednesday.

After paying respects at Kalam’s memorial, Rajesh Chinnadurai claimed that he is an independent candidate who is contesting in the RK Nagar bypoll with a balloon symbol. He hails from Ottanchathiram in Dindigul district and runs a software firm in Chennai. He is contesting to encourage more youngsters to come forward and contest in the elections. 

“Abdul Kalam has remained an icon for the youth and he is still an inspiration for me. He had wanted the youth of this country to lead the nation,” the engineer said, adding, this was the reason that he decided to contest the elction and start campaigning from Kalam’s memorial.
