Coast Guard gets two ultra-modern boats
The Coast Guard Region (East) on Thursday launched two new Interceptor boats (IBs) C-431 and C-432, equipped with ultra-modern technology. They would be inducted into the Coast Guard (CG) fleet after extensive trails in May this year for night patrol, anti-terrorist, anti-smuggling operations and coastal security.

The two boats, with expected life span of more than 15 years, were built by L&T Ship building wing and they were launched at an event held at L&T shipyard at Kattupalli near here by Nidhi Bargotra, president Tatrakshika (East) launched in the presence of CG Inspector General Rajan Bargotra. The boats would be inducted into the Indian Coast Guard in May this year after completion of extensive trials on fitted equipment and machineries.
“Post induction, these boats will be based at Chennai and Karaikal,” a defence release said. The boats were part of the 36 interceptor boats project contract which was signed between the Defence Ministry and the L&T Shipyard on March 19, 2010.
Out of these 36 boats, 24 have been delivered by the L&T Shipyard Hazira (Surat) and six boats by L&T shipyard, Kattupalli.
