Around 11.30 pm on March 17, Farook was hacked to death by a gang near Ukkadam in the city. While special teams were on the lookout for the accused, three people, later identified as Ansath, Sadam Hussain and Samsudeen of Podanur, in Coimbatore, surrendered before a court here.

Three more people Akram Jindha, Abdul Munaf and Jaffer Ali of the same locality were arrested later by the police. It is worth mentioning that all six persons were detained under the Goondas Act, last week.

Police sources said that while interrogating one of them, the cops came to know that Sadam Hussain was a close relative of Kichan Buhari.

Sources said that Sadam used to take his friends, including some of them who have been arrested in connection with murdering Farook to meet Kichan Buhari and that their interactions with the latter motivated them to murder the Atheist in Coimbatore, last month.

Highly placed police sources said that the case was now transferred to the CB-CID to ascertain the role of Kichan Buhari in the murder.
