Cyclone ‘Maarutha’ likely to bring a little relief

Cyclone warning flag number 2 was hoisted at Pamban in Ramanathapuram on Sunday following intensification of the cyclonic storm on Saturday night. The cyclone has started moving toward the coast of Myanmar. Though the eastern coast would be spared by ‘Maarutha,’ the north eastern states are expected to receive good rainfall.

Fishermen using small boats have been advised not to venture into the sea. Though there is a fishing ban period in place only mechanised boats would not venture into the sea. However, the country boats would still be going to the sea. Now due to the warning, they too will keep off the sea. On Saturday, a cyclone warning flag number 1 was hoisted at Pamban and as the cyclone intensified, flag number 2 was hoisted on Sunday. 

However, there will be no relief from the heat for the southern districts as the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast shows an increase of up to 3 degree Celsius in the coming days. The temperature is expected to go up to 43 degree Celsius in interior areas, the release said.
