Stalin issues warning to PM Modi on pro-Hindi push

It appears that the DMK has made up its mind on which side of the political table it wants to be in for 2019 Lok Sabha polls. On Saturday, the party reiterated its commitment to fight the BJP by launching another broadside against Narendra Modi government. And it rightly chose one of its favourite subjects -imposition of Hindi - to register its opposition to the Centre.

DMK working president MK Stalin has released a four-minute video, reiterating his opposition to a legislation hurriedly enacted by the Centre to make Hindi compulsory in CBSE schools and optimise the usage of the language in the Parliament.

Clad in a dark blue shirt in what is now famously called his namakku naamey style, a beaming Stalin, in the short video hash tagged #StopHindiChauvinism and #StopHindiImposition, repeats the statement he had issued early this week against the Centre for showing haste in enacting the legislation even while putting in cold storage the bills sent by Tamil Nadu Assembly to exempt the state students from NEET.

The video was viewed by over 40,000 and shared by nearly 1,300 people in the first four hours since it was posted on Stalin’s official Facebook page. The reiteration also demonstrates Stalin’s willingness to take the BJP head on in the company of Congress.
