No talks until demands are met, says O Panneerselvam’s group

The proposed merger talks failed to take place on Monday as O Panneerselvam group members did not turn up at the AIADMK headquarters as planned. The AIADMK (PTA) led by OPS stuck to their pre-conditions and the ruling AIADMK(Amma) wanted the other group to drop all conditions for the talks to happen.

“No progress could be made through the day even as the rival leaders spelt out their plans separately. AIADMK(A) talks committee leader and MP R Vaithilingam said different members of the rival group were talking in different voices leading to chaos. He added that they were ready for talks as ‘there is no issue for which a solution cannot be found through talks’.

He further said, “OPS group members are talking as they pleased, whereas Munusamy set only two pre-conditions for the talks of ordering a CBI inquiry into former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s death and removal of Sasikala and her family members from the party.”

However, he added that he had sent an SMS to Munusamy as well as the OPS group talks committee member and former MLA JCD Parbakar, but there was no reply. He said, “The information was conveyed to former speaker PH Pandian’s son Manoj and he replied that discussion would be possible only if the preconditions are met.”
