Patients affected as doctors intensify protest

Members of Service Doctors and Post Graduates Association (SDPGA) who were boycotting Out Patient duty for a couple of hours a day over the last four days also intensified their protest on Monday. Namakkal district president of the association who led the blindfolded protest at the District Head Quarters Hospital said that they have stopped performing elective surgeries from Monday.

In Chennai, doctors staged a sit-in at the Madras Medical College. They demanded to continue 50 per cent quota in the UG and PG admissions. In the districts too, doctors raised slogans and urged the State Government to fight for their cause at the Supreme Court (against the Madras High Court ruling) and to exempt UG and PG admissions in Tamil Nadu through NEET.
