Hailstorm excites tourists in Ooty

The hailstorm was witnessed at the Ooty Market, ATC Depot, Lower Bazaar and Main Bazaar areas in the town. People rushed to safety as the small pellets of ice fell on them. But in a few minutes people were all over the place collecting the stones and busy taking pictures of ice that quickly melted. 

“We were frustrated due to the bandh on Tuesday. We felt we had wasted thousands of rupees on lodging. But the hail storm came as a blessing and it was worth the wait for a day,” said M Magudapathy (43) from Dindigul. 

It is worth mentioning that about three weeks ago, Manjur area witnessed a hailstorm where big stone like pieces of ice fell all over the place. The hailstorm was also witnessed in some parts of Coimbatore.
