Jayakumar questions Semmalai's views on the merger
AIADMK(A) functionary and finance minister D Jayakumar demanded to know whether the resolution passed by the Salem unit of AIADMK(PTA) under the leadership of former minister and party merger talks committee member S Semmalai against the proposed merger was the minister's personal view or that of the faction he represented.

Interacting with the media after garlanding the statue of poet Bharathidasan on the Marina on his 127 the birth anniversary, Jayakumar asserted that Jayalalithaa's AIADMK rule would continue for its full term.
With merger talks already bogged down due to differing views being expressed by functionaries on both sides, Semmalai's approach is another spanner thrown into the works.
