On Sunday, Kadambur Raju, Minister for Information and Publicity, said, “Both the groups have formed teams to hold talks and soon it will be conducted. The talks will result in merger of both factions of the AIADMK and the restoration of ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.”

The minister further said that similar situation prevailed after the death of former chief minister M G Ramachandran, when two factions were formed. Later, they reunited and formed the government. Likewise, the two groups of the party would reunite and win the 2021 Assembly elections. Earlier, he participated at the Oral Polio Vaccination drive at Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district.

Meanwhile, Minister for Forests Dindigul Srinivasan in Madurai said that the two groups would become one before the next Assembly session. “We will get 10 to 12 MLAs back into our fold. DMK can never come to power through short cuts,” he added.
