Premalatha’s ‘hitting’ advice to cadre

Stating that actor turned politician Vijayakant was in sound health, his wife Premalatha Vijayakant asked the party functionaries to give a hard slap to journalists, who enquired about the DMDK founder’s health. She made this statement at the May Day public meeting at Dharapuram in Tirupur district on Monday night.

Asking why some media persons were too curious to keep digging details about Vijayakant’s health, she said they have not written anything on late J Jayalalithaa when she was in the hospital for 75 days or about M Karunanidhi about whom there is no news over the last few months. “Don’t you have any other topic to write?” she questioned.

Further, she also asked why people were repeatedly casting their vote for the AIADMK or the DMK? “I don’t know why the Kongu region is obsessed with the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and have voted for them en masse. What have you got?” she asked before stating that DMDK was the only party in high demand for an alliance.

Later, Vijayakant lost his cool on a couple of occasions during his seven-and-a-half-minute speech that abruptly came to an end. Seeing tears continuously rolling down his cheeks, an over enthusiastic cadre repeatedly raised slogans asking him not to cry. Stating that he was not crying, he added that everyone knows about it (tears).

“Even if I am crying consider it is for labourers,” he said in a lighter mood. For the next two minutes, he was hitting out at MK Stalin for supporting Lokpal and Lokayukta. “His family will be worst hit if they came into effect,” he said. But suddenly, he said that there was a lot of noise and he does not know what he was talking about and finished his speech abruptly. This left the audience waiting to hear more from him disappointed.
