Addressing the media, he said, “Local body election in the state has to be conducted immediately. But, there is a doubt that the election will happen only after the present government retrieve the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.”

Stating that there was a perception among the people that AIADMK faction led by O Panneerselvam was working hand in glove with the BJP at the Centre, the VCK leader said, “The Chief Minister’s speech that his team will win any election in the state is a challenge to the OPS team.”

Speaking on Sri Lanka’s new law, he termed it as against Tamils. “The UN should intervene in the matter and take necessary action against Lankan government,” he said.

Stating that the labourers should get proper wages and their rights should be established, Thirumavalavan said many organisations are not following the norms laid down by the Labour department. They simply flout them, he added. “The Centre and state governments should sense the fact that labourers are playing a vital role in the country and they should take actions against any company flouting the norms,” the VCK leader noted.
