According to the police and the fire and rescue services personnel, people of the locality saw a crow sit on a wire close to the transformer. They said that all of a sudden there was a short circuit in the transformer and it created some sparks, which threw off the bird, and fell on the plastic unit.
As there were lots of plastic goods in the unit, in no time smoke and fire engulfed the entire place.
Long struggle
Immediately fire service personnel were called to the spot. The fire personnel had to fight the raging fire for a long time and it needed several tanker loads of water.
Finally, after a struggle of more than an hour, they brought the fire under control. The police said that there was nobody at the unit as it was a Sunday and thankfully there was no loss of life. They explained that the goods and a goods carrier were completely destroyed in the incident.
Further investigation is on to find out the exact cause of the fire.
