Three of family killed in accident

Three members of a family were killed, while a five-year-old girl escaped with injuries when their bike rammed a government bus near Thombilipalayam on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

The police identified the victims as A Easwaran (34) of Kamban Nagar in Ondipudur, his wife Sathya (32) and their son Naveen (15). Naveen’s sister Deekshi was injured in the accident. The police said, the family was heading to a temple at Semmedu, when the accident occured. The bodies of the victims were taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Deekshi, who was battling for her life, was taken to the same hospital. 

Farmer hacked to death in Salem 

A farmer was hacked to death by a gang while he was grazing goats on a hillock close to Oothukadu near Seelanaickenpatti in Salem on Sunday.

Preliminary inquiry by the police revealed that the victim Perumal, owned several acres land and around 7 am on Sunday he took his goats for grazing to the hillock near his village. Around 11 am passers-by found him dead in a pool of blood with deep cuts on his head and hand. He also sustained cut injuries all over his body. His relatives claimed that a few people of the locality were engaged in stealing goats and selling them in the market and that Perumal had raised his voice against them. They suspect that he could have been murdered by them. 

The police said that they have a few clues at the scene of crime and that search was on for the unidentified accused.
