Kanagaraj was the prime suspect in the break-in and murder of a security guard Om Bahadur in Kodanadu Bungalow, frequented by Jayalalithaa on April 24. Kanakaraj died in an accident in Salem on April 28.
Tracing that Arukutty, MLA representing Kavundampalayam in the city, was in regular contact with Kanagaraj over phone, police had summoned him for inquiry for tomorrow. But he preferred to appear today, police said.
Earlier, Arukutty told reporters here that he was asked to appear before police since he was in the call list of Kanagaraj, who introduced himself as former driver of Jayalalithaa.
"I used to take him as driver, whenever I am in Chennai", he said. "However, I stopped talking to him during the last two months, since he had stated that I was supporting O Paneerselvam," leader of AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma), Arukutty said.
