According to police, Sachin (26), a history-sheeter, was murdered over a stalking row on Wednesday night at Thoothukudi. Sachin was stalking the daughter of Billa Jegan, a DMK functionary, and pestering her to marry him after college education. On Tuesday evening, Sachin had followed her and threatened that he would throw acid on her if she rejected his proposal. Panicked by this, the girl lodged a complaint with the Thoothukudi North police.

Meanwhile, Billa Jegan along with his brothers and supporters ‘kidnapped’ Sachin to his office and murdered him. Later, they disposed the body of Sachin at Jothi Nagar in Thoothukudi.

On information police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and carried out investigations which revealed that Billa Jegan along with his supporters had murdered Sachin. Thoothukudi SIPCOT police have registered a murder case against Billa Jegan, his brother Simson, and his associate Edison. While Jegan is absconding, the other two have been arrested.

In the second case in Thoothukudi district, a cable TV operator was murdered by a gang at Kovilpatti on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Murugan, a resident of Santhi Nagar at Kovilpatti. The victim was involved in the murder of a farmer in April and had recently been granted condition bail. So, cops suspect it to be a revenge murder.

On Thursday morning, when he came out of the Koppampatti police station after signing his bail, a car-borne gang intercepted him. When tried to escape, the gang chased and hacked him to death at Kuruvinatham village. Koppampatti police have booked a case. Further investigations are on.

In the third murder, a building contractor, was murdered at Tirunelveli, on Wednesday night. The deceased identified as Rajalingam was at home when he was murdered by a gang. On information, Palayamkottai police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem. After preliminary investigations, police suspect that Rajalingam could have been murdered due to previous enmity. A case has been registered by Palayamkottai police.

In another incident, an auto driver was murdered at Madurai, on Wednesday evening. The victim identified as Nandakumar (28) was returning home in his auto and when he neared the Mattuthavani bus stand, he was intercepted by a gang and hacked to death.

Investigations revealed that Karthikeyan along with his men had murdered Nandakumar. Police said that Karthikeyan had murdered Nandakumar’s friend, Sreedharan, on July 12, last year. It is said that Nandakumar was helping the family of Sreedharan in the murder case. Karthikeyan had murdered Nandakumar to stop the latter from helping the Sreedharan’s family in the legal proceedings in the murder case.
