Different voices heard on Rajini’s likely political entry

Seeman, who was here to participate in the King Perumbidugu Mutharayyar fest, said, “Rajinikanth need not come to politics. He cannot stake claim to rule the state simply because he had resided here for more than 40 years.” 

Pointing out that there are several misconceptions prevailing in the state, Seeman said the Tamils know how to remove all these. “We will take care of our state and will do what he (Rajinikanth) wants to do here,” Seeman stressed.

He further asked where was Rajinikanth when we were fighting for our rights on Cauvery issue and during the 2015 floods in Chennai. “He should act and earn and should not do more than that in the state,” the NTK leader said.

Meanwhile, the VCK chief, who visited the protesters at Neduvasal, where agitations have been going on for more than a month, said, the present political climate in the state was favourable to Rajinikanth to start a party of his own and take a plunge into active politics. 

Stating that Rajini has the basic right to float his own party, he said no one can stop him on that count. At the same time, everyone has the right to criticise his moves too, he added. 

“The political instability will immensely help him to come up. As a resident of the state for nearly 40 years, he also knows the politics in the state,” Thirumavalavan said. Expressing the hope that Rajini would not join the BJP to maintain his individuality and popularity, he said that the people of the state would not accept the saffron party’s policies and principles on several issues. 

On the Neduvasal issue, the VCK chief said, “The Centre has been signing various agreements with several private firms to extract coal bed methane and hydrocarbon projects with an aim to destroy the ground wealth of delta areas.” He further added, “The BJP party cadre and ministers have assumed that the Neduvasal protest has been diluted by their intensive efforts and their false assurances, but the protest will aggravate once the project resumes at Neduvasal,” he warned.
