“It is aimed at regulating sale of cattle and not a ban on consuming beef. The Act is to protect the interest of farmers and saving ‘innocent animals’ from getting slaughtered,” she added. Responding to the drastic drop in cattle sale at shadies across the state, she said that normalcy would return at those markets when people come to know the details of the Act and get clarifications on all the misconceptions.

Soundararajan also clarified that the BJP state unit was not inactive and has been repeatedly taking pressing issues to the Prime Minister’s Office and to their party’s national leadership. “We have taken issues such as forming the Cauvery Management Committee and privatisation of the Salem Steel Plant among others,” she said and added that they are also taking up issues that the ruling party and others have not thought of for the welfare of the people. 

Lauding the efforts taken by Minister KT Rajenthira Balaji for openly fighting adulteration of milk by private companies, she said that the state should hasten testing of milk samples of those companies. 

While many leaders opposed the arrest of May 17 Movement leader Thirumurugan Gandhi, the BJP leader felt that he deserved it as he has been continuously propagating anti-National ideologies.
