On whether the superstar would succeed in politics, 47% of the respondents believed so, while 39% responded that he might fail, while another 14% did not have an opinion on the same.
However, in what might turn out to be a dampener for the BJP who have been wooing Rajinikanth for a while now, a whopping 64% of the survey participants believed that he should float his own party, while 26% felt that he should join one of the regional political parties.
Endorsement to Rajini joining either BJP, Congress or any other national party was given only by 10% of those surveyed. But would the superstar’s fame take him all the way to the CM’s chair? Well, at least 46% of the participants thought it was ‘not likely’ ,while another 42% believed that he could actually become TN Chief Minister.
And for all those claims made by yesteryear director Bharathiraja recently that a Kannadiga would not rule TN and that Tamils were capable of taking care of themselves, the survey has revealed that at least of 50% people who participated did not think that his Kannada roots will in no way affect his political prospects in TN. However, a significant section of the respondents (38%) did believe that it would.
