Talking to reporters at the Chennai airport here on Saturday on his arrival, he extended his thanks to all the political leaders in the state, who voiced their concern over the detention. “There is a smooth relation between Malaysia and India and there is not even a single case against me in Malaysia. But denying my entry under such circumstances is highly condemnable,” he said. To a question, Vaiko replied, he has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this issue seeking an explanation from him.

Taking a dig at Sri Lankan government, the MDMK leader said, “When I earlier spoke about genocide during Eelam war in Sri Lanka and demanded an enquiry by the United Nations, the Lankan government does not want such kind of speech anywhere.”

“Even after I showed necessary documents like passport and visa, the immigration officials questioned me and said, “Vaiko, you are blacklisted and you cannot enter Malaysia, after which they took me to other higher officials. Shockingly, the higher officials too questioned ‘are you a Tamil from Sri Lanka’ and I told them that I am an Indian and a long-term Parliamentarian.”

Vaiko further noted that they kept questioning him and at one point sought to know whether he was a LTTE man, for which he replied, “No I am not an LTTE man, but I am a supporter of LTTE.” Further, the officials said that there were cases against him and he could not be allowed into the country, he said.

“I was made to sit in an isolated room for about 16 hours and I could not either eat or even drink water. The immigration officials too neither asked anything nor helped me,” he said.
