In his memorandum submitted to the Governor on Saturday, a copy of which was circulated to the media, Stalin explained the contents of the sting operation involving two AIADMK MLAs and asked the Governor to direct an impartial investigation by CBI into the sting involving the ruling party MLAs.

Stating that the sting operation on MLAs SS Saravanan and Kanagaraj reveals that the vote of confidence was vitiated by the inducements and bribery of AIADMK MLAs and it has corroborated allegations that the MLAs belonging to AIADMK had taken illegal gratification to cast votes in the vote of confidence motion on February 18, 2017, the Leader of Opposition also sought an investigation by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence or Enforcement Directorate to unearth the money trail and probe the offence under Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

“Only such an effective intervention, at the earliest, by the Governor will save democracy from being in the hands of a government whose CM has been elected under dubious circumstances and has won the constitutionally mandated vote of confidence by dishonest means,” the memorandum added.
