Financier’s body exhumed from Uyyakondan river bank in Tiruchy

The body of a 31-year-old financier was exhumed from near the Uyyakondan river bank in Tiruchy on Saturday following the confession of a 20-year-old accused in a murder case.

According to Somarasampettai police, the accused, Jayakanthan (20) of Mudalaipatti was arrested on Thursday along with nine others in connection with murder of Devan, a farmer of the same locality. During the interrogation, the accused Jayakanthan confessed to having murdered Vinoth (31), a financier, a few weeks ago and buried the body along the Uyyakondan river bank. 

Jayakanthan told the police, that he had borrowed Rs 3000 for interest from Vinoth. However, after repaying around Rs 9000, Vinoth demanded more money from Jayakanthan. Irked by this, Jayakanthan murdered the financier. 

As per the plan, Jayakanthan asked Vinoth to come near the Uyyakondan river at night, a few weeks ago, assuring to pay the amount that the latter demanded. Believing his words, Vinoth went to the spot, where Jayakanthan with the help of some of his friends hacked Vinoth to death. Jayakanthan took the ATM card and bike, before burying the body on the banks of Uyyakondan river. 

On Saturday, a police team along with the revenue officials and doctors, went to the spot and exhumed the body. Relatives identified the body of Vinoth. A post mortem was conducted on the spot and samples were taken for examination and the body was handed over to the relatives.
